Senior Primary School Teacher

A senior primary school teacher delivers the national curriculum while taking on school-wide leadership, such as leading a year-level team or curriculum area. Day to day, they plan and teach engaging lessons, assess progress, and support colleague teachers through mentoring and shared planning. They create inclusive, bicultural learning environments that reflect the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the values of their community. It is a role for experienced teachers who combine excellent classroom practice with the ability to develop the people around them. The role also involves working closely with whānau, support staff, and agencies so every child is genuinely supported. Experienced senior teachers are prized for their judgement and are natural candidates for deputy principal roles.
